29 years old Poonam an MBA in Finance with a PG Diploma in Personnel Management. Her educational qualifications would have landed an individual with a decent employment, but not Poonam. In her every interview prospective employers were always concerned about her tiny physical structure.
Finally, an HR firm seemed a shade positive. Poonam approached them stating that they need not pay her any salary until they first checked her working abilities. The firm hired and treated her like any other employee. Poonam worked there for 6 years.
But Poonam wanted to do something different that could challenge her. She converted her disability into an opportunity and started an organization Uddip Social Welfare Society to help physically challenged individuals. It allows Poonam to utilize her potential as someone who has seen the worst of life and emerged as a role model.
Other activities that she has begun focusing on are blood donations and she wants to make the women self sufficient by providing them livelihood options. Uddip Social Welfare Society has also started a campaign named CanDo for the empowerment of disabled individuals.
