Misael Rodriguez , Mexican Boxer Who Fought His Way From Begging On The Streets To Rio Olympic

Getting to compete at the Olympics is a challenge just by the sheer competition and the amount of people who you are competing against even when an athlete has all the facilities. One athlete had to beg on the streets of Mexico to fulfill his dream of reaching the Olympics. Misael Rodriguez begged for money on Mexico City’s streets and buses to fulfill his dream of reaching the Rio Olympics and now aims to repay the public’s generosity with boxing gold.

Rodriguex kissed the canvas after defeating Hosam Abdin from Egypt to reach Thursday’s semi-finals. It is worthwhile to note that Mexico has not won a medal yet at the Olympics. The 22-year-old Rodriguez and other Mexican boxers blame their government for forcing them to go cap in hand to the public. Rodriguez takes on Bektemir Melikuziev of Uzbekistan in the semis.

The Don’t Give Up World  wishes Rodriguez all the very best for his semi-final match, may his victory inspire athletes from other countries to use their adversity to transform into success.
