Meet 15-Year-Old Lizzy Howell Who Is Breaking Down Body Stereotypes In The World Of Dance

The 15-year-old from Milford, Delaware has been dancing for 10 years, and became an inspiration for thousands when a clip of her nailing a series of fouetté turns went viral on the internet.

She became an worldwide sensation after an Instagram video of her perfectly executing 11 fouetté turns and pirouettes was viewed 75,000 times.

Besides her slick dance moves, the 15-year-old has won a 22,000- strong army of fans for breaking down barriers in the world of dance, with fans calling her ‘amazing’ for her confidence and beauty.

The teen has been hailed as a role model for women of all shapes and sizes who want to follow their dreams, something which Lizzy is extremely proud of.

She told “It shouldn’t matter how much I weigh, the only thing that should matter is my passion for dance.

“I am trying to lose weight. I know it will make me a better dancer, as well as make me healthier. Losing weight is hard.”

The budding ballerina, who started dancing when she was five-years-old, trains four days a week and also practices jazz and tap dancing. She appeared in a production of the Nutcracker last year.

Although Lizzy said there have been lots of negative comments- one troll said they wished Lizzy would get cancer while another likened her twirls to a hurricane- her spirits have been buoyed by her supporters.
Besides this she’s also having Pseudotumor cerebri a condition in which the pressure around your brain increases, causing headaches and vision problems.

One Instagram user said: “Don’t let the hate get you I know you are are strong just be yourself and don’t let anyone stop you from shining bright.”

Lizzy said: “Stereotypes are made to be broken. You will have to work twice as hard for everything that everyone else gets, but it will be worth it in the long run to prove the “haters” wrong. Do what you love and don’t let any one stop you.”
