Super Singh, as this 23-year-old is called by his fans, was born without hands but defied all odds to become one of India’s top para-cyclists.

Singh qualified for the 2014 Asian Para Games but couldn’t participate because he had no money. Undeterred, this resident of Patran village near Patiala has set his sights on the Paralympics in Rio this year and has decided to crowd-fund his participation.

His goal is no less than the gold medal. “To be able to compete on an international level, all athletes need international standards of training, coaching, nourishment and infrastructure,” Singh says in a press statement from

DesiredWings.com, a crowd-funding platform.

Jagwinder Showing medals@dontgiveupworld “Through this crowd-funding initiative, I hope to collect enough money to be able to keep on dreaming and following my passion. Your support is all I need. And I will leave no stone unturned to win an Olympics Gold for my country,” Singh adds.

DesiredWings.com is a platform that brings together high net worth individuals, charities, and people from the creative field who want to make a difference using innovation and with cause-driven projects.

In 2014, Jagwinder Singh completed a 212 km cyclothon — organised by the Green Biker Association in Patiala — in 9 hours and 15 minutes. He won the State Gold Medal in 2014 in a championship organised by the Chandigarh Association. He also bagged the Bronze Medal in the International Cyclothon held in Orissa in 2015.

23-year-old cycles, paints, cooks

Singh has defied not just the odds, he’s also gone against his parents’ wishes. He was interested in cycling from a very young age and despite his parents telling him not to ride, a young Singh would sneak out of his house every night and try balancing on a cycle in the lanes of his neighbourhood. It wasn’t easy.

Super Singh has suffered more than 17 fractures. Now, he cycles more than 25km, a day. Singh also uses his feet to cook and eat his food, paint and even work on his computer. His favourite cyclist is Joseph Veloce from Canada. “He is my biggest inspiration. Like him, I want to win a Gold Medal in the Olympics. I want to make my parents and my country proud.”

When asked how he manages to do all this, he answers like it’s all very easy.
“Whenever I feel like doing some work I see how other people are doing it and then I figure out my own way of doing the same thing. It’s as simple as that!” It’s no wonder his fans call him Super Singh..
