Inspirational Story Of Paras Loomba Who Quits His MNC Job To Bring Light To The Remotest Villages In Ladakh

After pursuing electrical engineering, Paras Loomba was building a promising career for himself.. He was working with a multi-national company in Gurgaon and was gradually climbing the corporate ladder. But after completing an expedition to Antarctica in 2012, Paras decided to work in the field of renewable energy and sustainable rural development. He quit his job and to attend the call of the Himalayas, where he grew up.

He came up with the idea of Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE), a group promoting impact tourism by bringing solar-powered light to some of the remotest villages in Ladakh. He created a unique proposition for trekking enthusiasts, arranging treks and homestays in those villages. For that he charged a fee, with which he brought solar lights to the villages.ladakhdontgiveupworld

GHE has been able to set up micro solar grids in eight of the villages. With his knowledge in electrical engineering, Loomba has been able to design LEDs for high-altitudes, solar powered LED TVs for the villages.

Shingo, for example, is a village situated at a trekking distance of 40 miles from the nearest motorable road. “The village comprises 30 rooms and 60 residents (male and female). The villagers had been sending applications and requests for over 10 years to the local authorities, but to no avail,” Paras told The Huffington Post.ladakh-indiadontgiveupworld

The Don’t Give Up world Team appreciates the brilliant initiative by Mr Loomba and GHE for bringing light and happiness to the remotest of lands in the far corners of the country.
