Inspirational Story Of 9 Year Old Muskaan From Bhopal Runs A Library To Educate Other Kids

A nine year old girl child of slum named Muskaan Ahriwar, currently studying in 3rd standard is doing pure justice to her name by spreading smiles across the country and among her so called students by being touted as the youngest librarian of India.

The magnificent girl hails from a slum located in Bhopal, the capital city of India’s heart Madhya Pradesh. The slum resides in the neighborhood of Arera Hills, a place where a Rajya Shiksha Kendra which is the state government’s apex academic body for the school education department; started under the scheme of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan(study for all) initiative taken by the MP government presides.
It all started when a team from the State Education Board (SEB) visited Muskaan’s slum on New Years. At the time, they gave 25 books to the children to read and share with each other. They conducted a Q&A round as well to gauge more information on the status of the kids’ education. Muskaan won the quiz and readily accepted the challenge of educating her friends with the help of the books provided to her by SEB, who has handed the responsibility of maintaining a library for the books provided to the little girl.

The purest virtue of a kid’s mind is that they never look for their profit when given a task to complete, they just want to prove their mettle by doing their work and that’s what our little hero Muskaan did. More books were provided to them on Republic Day.

“Currently officials have provided 119 books to the library, which is my responsibility and I love doing this. Other children in slum area take books and then return other day. Some stay back to read here with me and ask questions where they don’t understand,” said Muskaan.

Muskaan also receives helps and inputs from her elder sister Neha Ahriwar who is currently studying in 7th standard.

Muskaan is a living example of the wide felt notion that it is the youth who can mould our nation’s future. Amazingly, most of the children in the slum have finished reading all the 119 books present in the library and they are looking forward to reading more with the help of their idol Muskaan.
