Inspirational Journey Of Vishwas From Lost Both His Hands To Gunning For Tokyo Olympics 2020

A true champion will fight through anything.

Making his won destiny
Not letting unfortunate circumstances dictate his destiny, Vishwas K.S, 26-year-old from Bengaluru won three medals at the Canadian ‘2016 Speedo can Am Para-swimming Championships’. What makes his story and achievement all the more special and inspiring is the fact that Vishwas lost his hands in a tragic accident when he was 10 years old.

His ordeal and his dream
Vishwas is known to be a master of butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle swimming. His achievements and laurels are preceded by great effort and determination.

Vishwas tried a handful of jobs, during his working time, he was questioned and even ridiculed. It was swimming that attracted him and soon Vishwas got an opportunity to learn the sport. Astha (NGO) & Book A Smile helps professional athletes with training, infrastructure and nutritional plans to hone them into well-rounded sportspersons. With their help, Vishwas has reached the pinnacle of glory and there is nothing which seems to stop him from achieving what he wants to. Now, Vishwas’s dream is to compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and make his country proud.

“My father Satyanarayana Murthy was a clerk in the Agriculture Department. Sixteen years ago, I was watering the cemented portions at the home that we were building when I suddenly lost balance and fell on live electric wires. My father rushed to save me from being electrocuted, but lost his life. After being in coma for two months, I recovered, but lost my hands,” said Vishwas .

The Don’t Give Up World Team  salutes the courage and determination of Vishwas and we wish him all the best for his continued success and we request the government to provide him all the support he could to make India proud and achieve his goals.
